Struggle+Sacrifice=Success…Such profound words from a wise young man whom goes by the alias Yung Tone (Munki Boi Entertainment). This 23 year old Naptown native is no stranger to hard work and dedication when it comes to making music. “You got to out grind, to out shine the next artist,” says Yung Tone (YT hereafter). ”I feel like I bring excitement from the Midwest.” And exciting he is! With 3 mixtapes out right now (“I’m Here Now”, “Ruberband Lingo Vol. 1″ and “Rubberband Lingo Vol. 2″) and a slew of music videos/collabs under his belt, YT is headed for a long career of fans bobing and dancing to his music.
KAT: Out of all the genres of music in the world, why Rap, why Hip-Hop Music?
YT: That’s what I grew up listening to… so, you really go for what you know and that’s all I know, you know. I listen to both and R&B…I combine the three to make good music.
KAT: What makes you so different from any other artist?
YT: I’m not just going to have one type of music. Unlike artist such as Waka Flaka and Plies, I make music all across the board.
KAT: You coined the phrase, “Rubberband Lingo”. What does that mean?
YT: “Lingo” means talk and “rubberband” refers to money. I talk about money in my music… but that is not all…If you’d listen you’d see I make music for the ladies, about the struggle, all type of stuff.
KAT: If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be and why?
YT: “Caring”, because I would do anything for my loved ones, friends, and family.
KAT: What are some more wise words and advice you can share with your fans?
YT: I recommend everyone to go to school…right after high school, keep going! Be young while you still young, because you will be older longer than you are younger!
